I had my car towed to Swinson's roughly 3 weeks ago (beginning of July) for a new alternator. I was told that the alternator wasn't your average one, it had to be electric with power steering. I argued this because an average alternator runs about $100-$150, but the one he insisted on cost $250. Turns out he was right, and I was wrong (I can admit when I'm wrong) but here's where the cost got crazy. I was told he was getting it from Autozone and his cost (mechanic cost) was $250. The total price for the alternator with labor was just under $500. I went to Autozone myself and purchased the exact same alternator (that he claimed was $250) for $160 bucks. I brought the part to Quality Auto Care in Ocoee (off Story Rd) and was charged $100 bucks to install it.. Meanwhile? I had to have my car towed twice at $65 bucks a pop, and it was still cheaper than what they wanted to charge me at Swinson's... Do they do good work there??? Who knows, I would hope so at the prices they charge... If you want someone honest (these guys aren't) go to Qualify Auto Care... Avoid these guys if you can...
